Overview
This article describes the fixes made in this release for the registration process.
Wrong Message Displayed During Registration if UEI Not Found in SAM
Summary and Resolution
If a vendor attempted to register with FedConnect, but the system could not find their unique entity identifier (UEI) in the System for Award Management (SAM), after the vendor registrant accepted the Terms and Conditions, the following error message displayed:
"Only individuals identified as a POC in SAM may create a new account in FedConnect. Please reach out to the SAM POC for your organization for help creating this account."
This error message was incorrect as it had nothing to do with the point of contact (POC) for the vendor. The system should have displayed an error message to indicate that the UEI value entered in the UEI SAM field on the Registration Request page was not a valid UEI in SAM.
This issue is resolved, and now in the scenario described above, the following error message displays:
"We were unable to locate an active record in the System for Award Management (SAM) that matches the UEI entered. Please verify the information you entered is correct. If you have registered in SAM recently, please note that it may take multiple days for SAM to process your registration. If you still need help, either email fcsupport@unisonglobal.com or call us at 1-800-899-6665, Option 2."
Prerequisites
A vendor UEI that does not exist in SAM
Steps to Recreate
- Open a web browser and navigate to FedConnect. The FedConnect Home page displays.
- On the FedConnect Home page, click Register for Free Account. The Registration Request page displays.
- In the UEI SAM field, enter the UEI from the prerequisites.
- Complete all other required fields on the Registration Request page.
- Click Register.
- Select Subscriber Agrees and click Continue.
Results
The Registration Request page displays again, but this time with the error message, "We were unable to locate an active record in the System for Award Management (SAM) that matches the UEI entered. Please verify the information you entered is correct. If you have registered in SAM recently, please note that it may take multiple days for SAM to process your registration. If you still need help, either email fcsupport@unisonglobal.com or call us at 1-800-899-6665, Option 2."
Email Domain Extensions With More Than Three Characters
Summary and Resolution
Prior to this release, if during the registration process, the registrant attempted to submit an email address with an email domain extension longer than three characters, the error message, "Enter a valid email address," displayed. This prevented organizations with email domain extensions longer than three characters from successfully registering in FedConnect.
The following is a very short list of some of the types of longer email domain extensions that exist (for anyone who is curious, you can find a more extensive list of top-level internet domains in Wikipedia):
- .academy
- .agency
- .bank
- .build
- .capital
- .coffee
This issue is resolved. The validation in FedConnect that checked for a limit of three characters for email address domain extension was removed. So, now you can successfully register your organization when you use an email address domain extension longer than three characters.
Apostrophes Now Allowed In E-Mail Address
Summary and Resolution
Prior to this release, if a vendor had an apostrophe in their name and it was also reflected in their email address before the at (@) symbol, then the following error message displayed:
Entering email address which contains an apostrophe returns the following error:
The following issues have been identified. Please address before proceeding.
- Enter a valid email address.
- Reenter your email.
As a result, such vendors could not complete the registration process or create a new user account. It was determined that this should not cause an error and such vendors/users should be able to create an account.
Additionally, this change puts FedConnect up-to-date with the standards in SAM.gov, since SAM.gov allows for apostrophes in point-of-contact (POC) email addresses.
This issue is resolved, and now you can successfully register or create a new user account even if your email address contains an apostrophe before the @ symbol.
