Overview

This article describes the update made in this release that now makes it possible to unsubscribe from receiving automated FedConnect email messages.

New Ability to Unsubscribe from Automated FedConnect Email Messages

Summary and Resolution

Prior to this enhancement, people in a vendor list in an opportunity in PRISM (the agency's contract writing system) that was posted to FedConnect received notifications that did not necessarily pertain to them, which was confusing. This occurred even if the vendor and/or associated vendor users in FedConnect had their notifications settings disabled. This was also an issue for email addresses that existed in PRISM that were connected to non-FedConnect users. All of these factors combined led recipients of the email message to believe that they were receiving spam from FedConnect.

Additionally, the body text of the email message had the potential to also cause confusion since it misleadingly stated:

"This message is sent to you as a courtesy because you listed [agency code] in your FedConnect user profile. If you wish to be removed from future emails about this agency, please update your user profile at [link]."

This had the potential to be misleading because the message was sent even when it was simply not true; some people received the email message because they were listed as vendor contacts in awards in an agency's contract writing software system.

These issues are resolved:

  • There is a new Unsubscribe from all notifications field that you can use in FedConnect to unsubscribe from automated FedConnect email messages. Select the check box in the Unsubscribe from all notifications field to prevent FedConnect from sending any emails to you, including the ones from federal agencies, from their vendor list in their contract writing system.
  • The body text of the email message has been updated to be more clear and accurate. If the email address only originated from the vendor contact list in PRISM, the body text now reads, "You are receiving this notification as a result of the Federal Government listing you as a point of contact in their contract writing system that was used on this opportunity and sent to FedConnect."
