Updated Error Message For Directed Opportunities


Summary and Resolution

This issue was related to the result of clicking a link in an email about an opportunity or a link in the opportunity in SAM that directed the user to the Opportunity Summary page in the opportunity in FedConnect. The issue was with opportunities from PRISM that are considered "directed opportunities" in FedConnect (directed opportunities are the ones available only for a vendor with a specific SAM UEI). For the directed opportunities, the problem was that when the user clicked the link (whether in the email message or in the opportunity in SAM), instead of being directed to the Opportunity Summary page in FedConnect, the following error message displayed:


"An unexpected error occurred in the application. Please contact [email protected] and reference the following key:[key number]. Thank you for your patience."


The intention of the error message was to explain to the user that they could not access the FedConnect opportunity via the link because it was a directed opportunity, thus it was necessary to sign in to FedConnect directly and then search for the opportunity to see whether they had access. The nature of the error message caused confusion for the customers and caused an unnecessary flow of calls to the support desk.


This issue is resolved, and now instead of the aforementioned error message, a new error message displays that says the following:


"The opportunity you are attempting to access has been directed to a specific set of vendors in FedConnect. To see if you have access to this opportunity, please login to FedConnect and search for this Opportunity ID. [Link to Sign In Page]"
