Overview
This article provides information about the fixes that were made in FedConnect 3.0 that are related to the FedConnect Message Center.
New Messages Were Read-Only and Could Not Be Edited
Summary and Resolution
When the user created a new message from either the Outbox folder or the Sent folder in the FedConnect Message Center, the new message was read-only and the user could not write any text because nothing in the message was editable.
Prerequisites
You are signed in as a vendor and you have access to an opportunity or an award.
Steps to Recreate
- Navigate to the opportunity or award from the prerequisites. To navigate to the opportunity, click either all opportunities, directed opportunities, or my opportunities. To navigate to the award, click awards.
- If you have not yet registered for the opportunity or award, click Register to Receive Notifications if it displays, otherwise click Join to join the response team. If you have already registered or joined the response team, then go to Step 3.
- In the Message Center, click either Outbox or Sent.
- Click New to create a new message.
- Attempt to type in the Subject field or in the [Unlabeled] text box.
Results
You can successfully type text in the Subject field and in the [Unlabeled] text box.

Summary and Resolution
The user could not navigate away from the Message Center after sending a message. Upon further investigation it was discovered that whenever that happened, the messages included at least one special character (such as, but not limited to, a hyphen, an em dash, etc.).
Prerequisites
A message has been sent to you in regards to an opportunity or award and the message contains at least one special character.
Steps to Recreate
- Sign in to FedConnect and navigate to the opportunity or award from the prerequisites.
- Register to receive notifications or join the award team and acknowledge any documents.
- Review the message in the Message Center.
Results
You can successfully view the message.
Updates to FedConnect Notifications for Solicitation Amendments
Summary and Resolution
Vendors received email notifications from FedConnect when solicitation amendments were posted, regardless of whether the vendors had acknowledged the opportunity.
This issue is resolved, and now FedConnect sends such notifications only when the NAICS code on the solicitation is updated from the previous version.
Note
Regardless of whether the NAICS has been updated, vendors who have acknowledged a solicitation will still continue to receive notifications for amendments. There is no change to this part of the functionality.
